A sensitive site demanded a careful balance. Working face to face with the clients, Iconic designed a 5,500 sq ft home that respects the traditional character of the street while delivering a thoroughly contemporary interior and a generous connection to the garden.

The planning challenge shaped the strategy: a traditional brick facade to the front maintains the neighbourhood character, while the rear unfolds into a modern home that brings the garden into every principal room. Large glazing and carefully considered proportions create a constant visual link between inside and out, blurring the boundary between house and landscape.

The result is a home that reads as two things at once: respectful neighbour on the street, contemporary family home within. It proved that sensitive design and modern living do not have to compromise.
